Poole Rocks MCZ Fact Sheet | Natural England

Wednesday 16th July 2014

Poole Rocks received designation as a Marine Conservation Zone (MCZ) along with with 26 other sites in English inshore and offshore waters on the 21st November 2013.

The Poole Rocks MCZ is an inshore site covering an area of around 4km2 and is one of the smaller MCZs. It lies to the east of the entrance to Poole Harbour and approximately 2-2.5 km to the east of the beachfront at Sandbanks. The site protects an area of rocky outcrops within the sediment-dominated Poole Bay.

Natural England have put together an informative fact sheet for this MCZ, which covers: why the site is important, what it is protecting, and who will be managing the MCZs.

Download the Poole Rocks Fact Sheet below, visit the Natural England website for fact sheets for other MCZs.
